Robert Brown
Who I am
I have worked in social housing since 1978 for a number of local authorities and housing associations in the Midlands and the south of England. My main interests are housing advice, homelessness and allocations, housing strategy and development and tenant participation.
I have a degree in Law and have worked in social housing since 1978. I completed my Professional Diploma at Matthew Boulton Technical College, Birmingham and my Master’s degree at Birmingham University.
My expertise and experience
For the last five years I have combined housing practice with training. From 2002 – 2005, I taught on the Postgraduate Housing Diploma course and the National Certificate in Tenant Participation and Neighbourhood Renewal at Oxford Brookes University. I also completed my Certificate for Teachers in Higher Education.
I have written course materials for the CIH distance learning courses for the Level 4 and Postgraduate Diplomas. I now tutor students for the CIH and CSHS distance and flexible learning courses. I am an External Assessor and Moderator for the CIH.
My courses @ LearnHousing
I have a keen interest in developing e-learning course materials in the housing sector. Among the initial subjects to be developed for LearnHousing will be "Dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour - an introduction" and "Best Value and Performance Planning for Local Authorities and Housing Associations".
