The LearnHousing
Housing Information Portal

There are many ways to learn - and reading is one of them. In this section of LearnHousing you will therefore soon find links to selected books and publications about Housing related issues, including links to relevant publications by the Housing Corporation, ODPM, Housing Research Organisations, etc

We are also providing uo-to-date links to key information resources provided by the main Housing related organisations.

KEY INFORMATION RESOURCES

AUDIT COMMISSION - HOUSING

The audit commission provides reports and data on the quality of services provided by housing associations, including standard housing management functions and specialist support services.

Click here for reports about specific housing issues as well as the latest inspection reports or follow this link to see a list of all available reports which you can sort by Date, Title, Rating and Ability to improve.

On its Guidance page you will find a range of articles which are useful for local authorities' housing departments and housing associations with regard to measuring and improving the performance of the services they provide. They also include advice on some of the processes defined by government that housing staff need to know about.

HOUSING CORPORATION

The role of the Housing Corporation is to fund and regulate housing associations in England. All the key information and useful reading material provided by the Housing Corporation is accessible via its Library.

Some of the important sections you should keep an eye on are:

1. Consultation Papers

2. Housing Coporation Assessment

An extremely useful section of the Library are the HCAs - HCA stands for 'Housing Corporation Assessment' (of the housing association's performance against compliance with the Regulatory Code and in delivering the Approved Development Programme).

New HCA reports are uploaded regularly, so whether you want to find out about your own organisation's performance, or any other Housing Association in the country - this is the place to find relatively in-depth informaton about a range of issues.

3. National and Regional Allocations

If you are interested to find out where the Housing Corporation funding is going then this is an excellent source of information. The above link will take you to a list of Regional Allocation Statements. In these documents you will find details about allocations of the Approved Development Programme (ADP), describing the National and regional allocations, including the new partnering arrangements. Separate Excel files containing data analyses are also available.
