Need help, advice or support in getting started with e-learning?
From our conversations with many organisations in the Housing Sector, we know that many are interested in and enthusiastic about e-learning, and its potential for helping to overcome some of the current challenges with training delivery and staff development.
A range of providers and software vendors are already targeting organisations with a view to selling them 'the ultimate e-learning solution'.
With e-learning definitely on the radar, we have detected some confusion, apprehension and concerns when to get involved with e-learning, how to assess the pros and cons, how to 'make it work' and how to avoid the various pitfalls.
While confusion is normal during change, it shouldn't stand in the way of embarking on an e-learning journey though, as the overall benefits outweigh the disadvantages. So what you need is somebody to help you through the jungle of information, and get to the core of your organisation's particular needs.
What we can do for you
1. Advise you on the ‘readiness’ of your organization for using e-learning.
Although the ‘readiness’ of the individual e-learner(s) is very important too, there are certain organisational factors that influence how easily and successfully e-learning can be adopted.
To determine your readiness we will consider factors like:
- Organisational culture
- Your approach to training, learning and professional development
- Current status of training delivery
- Your IT infrastructure
- Your financial resources
- Literacy and writing skills of your workforce
How we assess your e-learning readiness:
- By reviewing relevant documents (training policies, staff development procedure) and sources of information (your training budget, training uptake figures, training survey data)
- By gauging the opions of a cross-section of staff (HR and training people, IT experts, middle- and senior managers, other employees) through a mix of methods (surveys, focus groups, 1:1 interviews) using online, phone or face-to-face communication.
- By relating our findings to relevant good practice and the experience of other organisations.
2. Guide you through the process of deciding what e-learning products and services to buy.
If you are looking for e-learning solutions covering subejcts like soft skills, management skills, or IT skills then you have a wide choice of online training content providers in these areas. We can advise you on what your options are and what fits best within your current circumstances.
We do not have any close relationship to any one vendor or provider – so we can act as an unbiased advisor and intermediary between you and representatives of companies trying to convice you that their e-learning offers are the best.
3. Helping you to implement e-learning successfully
Whether you develop your own in-house portfolio of e-learning, or buy in courses from one or more providers – to make it work you’ll have some groundwork to do. Many vendors don’t provide this support with this as part of their service, and organisations new to e-learning often don’t know how to ensure success, simply because they have no relevant previous experience.
We can help you by drawing up an action plan for getting started with e-learning, getting buy-in from all the relevant people in your organisation, and creating and maintaining momentum. The overall aim is to help your organisation's e-learning project succeed, by avoiding costly mistakes other organisations have made, and copying the examples of those who succeeded. Plenty of good practice exists so there is no need to reinvent the wheel – let us apply our knowledge for your benefit.
