Effective Communication
in
the Workplace

Background and Course objectives:

Whatever role you play in your organisation, one thing is certain: you need to communicate with colleagues and business partners, and communicate well, to achieve results. Unfortunately there are many stories of abominable communications in organisations, involving managers, frontline-staff and even business leaders. Bad and ineffective communication is a source of great frustration: surveys show that poor communication is one of the root causes for workplace stress, higher absenteeism, and people leaving the organisation.

Effective Communication in the Workplace is a modular series of short workshops addressing key areas of workplace communication and information issues, starting with one of today's fastest growing nuisances - e-mails - and covering many other issues like the art of effectively managing and communicating within virtual and dispersed teams.

Who should take part?

Anybody in an organisation who has to communicate with others, via phone, e-mail or any other means. Suitable for frontline-staff, people in administrative roles, managers at all levels.

The Modules:

(1) Effective Use of E-mails
(2) Rediscovering the Art of the Phone
(3) Paper: The Forgotten Medium in Business Communication?
(5) Internal Communication Strategies
(6) Virtual & Dispersed Teams: Effective Communication and Management
(7) Office Gossip: Curse or Blessing?
(8) Knowledge Sharing: Turning Experts into Teachers and Mentors

How much time does it take to participate?

Each workshop will run over a period of 7 working days, with an overall 'learning time' of 3 hours, or approximately 25 minutes per day (including online and offline activities).

Part of the activities and information provided will be accessed by participants via LearnHousing's Virtual Learning Centre, but we will also send daily 'learning bricks' via email.

You can take part in any individual workshop or sign-up for all of them. They do not need to be attended in a particular order. Contact us for starting dates.

What are the costs?

If you book an individual workshop the cost per module is £55 per person. If you book 3 or more workshop modules at the same time the cost per module is £45 per person. If you book the whole series of modules the total cost is £320 per person (£40 per module).
