Issue 8 :: 7 July 2005 :: The LearnHousing Connection
Welcome to the LearnHousing connection!

We are currently in week three of our second Social Housing Compass pilot course. After a break in August, we will be launching regular Compass courses at a cost of £130 per person/course - which, despite the duration and intensity, is cheaper than any other open-access Introduction to Social Housing course on the market, even without considering the travel costs you save! Please keep an eye on the website for updates on start dates. For later in the year we are also planning dedicated Compass courses for Board members and an Advanced Level Compass Course.

For those of you not certain if e-learning is the route to go, check out our new e-learning taster workshops below.

Many thanks and have a great summer, Monika Strell
Chairing Effective Board & Committee Meetings

"Good governance is not about managing a 'smooth' board room process but is about meetings that are full of argument, disagreement, passion and dissent which are all signs of a healthy board!"- From: 'Faith in Governance. Renewing the role of the Director', by Michael Willis and Michael Fass.

Our new online workshop paired with 1:1 coaching support aims to support anybody involved in chairing board and committee meetings.

In addition to teaching new and effective ways of running meetings, and the relationships and communication of those involved, it offers the 1:1 support needed to put new skills into practice.

Please contact us for further information.
Autumn and Winter Course Preview

We are keen to keep you posted on our forthcoming programme of learning events. We are planning a gradual launch of additional courses and workshops, so watch this space! Here are two of the topics that you can expect to see:
  • Anti-Social Behaviour: action-oriented solutions for tackling it
  • Supporting People & the Quality Assessment Framework: all you ever wanted to know but never dared to ask (Modular online workshop)
As we are in the process of developing these learning events right now, we are keen to hear from potential clients what they really want to learn in these topic areas.

To let us have your feedback get in touch.
E-learning? What's that?

Many of the organisations and people we are talking to are still not quite sure what e-learning is all about. To enable more of them to get a real taste of what e-learning looks like, we have recently launched a 'Start anytime: e-learning taster workshop'.' The event is still free and can be easily completed over 3-4 hours, and the good news is that you can now start whenever you are ready. In addition to providing a first-hand experience, it's an excellent opportunity to learn about e-learning too. Which makes it ideal for HR professionals and all those managing other people. If you want to take part then get in touch.
