Issue 12 13 Dec 2005 The LearnHousing Connection
Welcome to the pre-Christmas and therefore last edition of LearnHousing for 2005!

Some time has passed since the last newsletter, mainly because we have been busy perfecting and testing the new self-paced Social Housing Compass course, which will be ready for launch in January (more about it below). We've also been exploring further exciting options for broadening LearnHousing's offers in the New Year, both with regard to courses as well as consultancy, coaching and various other services. All will be revealed in the New Year, after all the Christmas excitement is over.

Until then have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Find your
feet in Social Housing ... at your own pace

Following the feedback from the pilot 'Social Housing Compass' course we have decided to offer the course not only as a collaborative learning event with fixed starting times (please click here for the 2006 dates), but also as a self-paced open-access course which learners can complete at their own pace and with no time limitations. Learners will receive full ongoing tutor support and assistance in tailoring the learning material to their own needs.

The course will be accessible via LearnHousing's Virtual Learning Centre, so organisations do not need to invest in any additional technical infrastructure. We expect to offer the course also on CD-ROMs sometime in 2006, to cater for those organisations with limited Internet access, or who would prefer to run the course locally.

The course is currently going through it's final testing stage, but will be available at a price of £175 from January onwards. More detailed information will be sent to all recipients of this newsletter in the New Year, but please get in touch if any of your colleagues or staff members want to secure a place.

Considering a distance or online MBA?

Our newsletter is not only sent to a wide range of HR professionals, but also to other Housing professionals in middle or senior management positions. Many of them may be interested in doing an MBA, and some may consider one that is offered on a distance or online learning basis.

Whilst being a convenient way of combining work, personal life and training, this approach to learning is also a special challenge, and it's a good idea to reflect on your suitability for this style of learning.

In the new year we will offer a range of support to those who need advice on making this decision, including:
  • An online assessment tool
  • 1:1 coaching calls to help you make a choice
  • Group telephone conferences offering advice on the benefits and challenges of online and distance MBAs
  • A dedicated page on LearnHousing that lists a variety of online MBA options
Keep an eye on www.learnhousing.co.uk for updates. Further news will follow in the next LearnHousing Connection.
