Welcome to the first edition of The LearnHousing Connection, the newsletter that will keep you informed about LearnHousing - the new and innovative training & learning project for the Housing Sector, offering e-learning and blended learning solutions.
LearnHousing is the biggest of Knowledge Generation's projects for the Housing Sector so far. It reflects not only my own passion for, and belief in, modern training and learning methods, but is also extremely interesting for housing professionals. Because of the importance of training to the Housing Sector, I have taken the step of publicising a regular newsletter. I hope you will find LearnHousing interesting, and I would be very keen for you to get involved in one of the learning and training options. It would be of enormous help if you could forward this newsletter, or the URL for the LearnHousing website: www.learnhousing.co.uk, to many colleagues within your own organisation and beyond. Many thanks, Monika Strell, Consultant & Coach, Knowledge Generation, Bristol. |

The better mousetrap in Housing Training!
LearnHousing is a project developed by Monika Strell from Knowledge Generation, a Bristol-based consultancy & coaching business, specialising in working with individuals and organisations on efficient ways of using their knowledge and information resources to become effective 'learning organisations'. We are taking the step into online training provision because 'traditional' face-to-face courses are often difficult for housing professionals to access, and often provide limited real 'learning'. LearnHousing, therefore, addresses the accessability of training in the Housing Sector, as well as the quality of training and learning. LearnHousing's main principle is 'Learning is a process - not an event'. Our main goals are to make sure that people who have been involved in a course know more than they did before, are able to apply their new knowledge and skills 'on the job, and thereby remain connected to other people on a peer-to-peer level for continuous learning and support. Read more about the LearnHousing approach here. |
E-learning? Blended Learning? Find out more ... LearnHousing's e-learning approach is very different from what you may usually visualise when thinking about e-learning. This is because LearnHousing is not just computer based training - where participants access information via the web or CD-rom and study at their own pace - which, in reality, is often a lonely and ineffective way of training! Instead, our approach is social and interactive, with tutors who are not only subject experts but who also take care of learners and their learning. Where it is useful and effective, we also 'blend' the online format with other methods, from traditional face-to-face events to telephone conferencing. At the LearnHousing website you will find a wealth of information about e-learning in general, the LearnHousing approach in particular, and all you need to know and consider before starting with e-learning. Please take the time to explore these resources, or contact us for a detailed discussion about LearnHousing options and how they fit into your training programme. |

Get a taste for e-learning and help to shape the future of LearnHousing - special rates for pilot courses
LearnHousing is in its early stages of development. Before we launch the project to a wider audience we need to test some of the technology and formats with 'real life participants'. At the moment, we are setting up a range of pilot courses and we are looking for organisations to enrol participants at a special 'guinea pig' rate of only £60 per course, or, if at least three participants from one organisation register, only £45. Organisations taking part in the pilot phase will also qualify for a special discount of 20% off regular course fees for all courses booked in 2005. If you want to try the LearnHousing approach then book for one of the e-learning taster workshops OR have a look at our Demo Course! Desperate for training? Let us know what you are looking for!
The e-learning and blended format offers great opportunities to provide topical & up-to-date courses and workshops that respond quickly to the interests and needs of a constantly changing Housing Sector. We aim to become a provider of excellence for subjects not covered elsewhere. If you are looking for a particular course, for yourself or your staff, let us know and we will be more than happy to explore if, and how, we can provide it in an e-learning or blended learning format. In the initial stage, we expect to concentrate on the two main areas of: • housing-related subjects • management & personal development skills |
